Picnic is about two very different families who share a yard. It’s about the beauty of opportunity, generational differences and young people entering adulthood.
With scenery I focused on the thinking and listening that we do before making big decisions. What’s important to me? Whose opinions do I care about?
I wanted to give the audience an opportunity to see what characters did before they entered spaces.
With the translucency and traditional shapes of the houses I wanted to create a juxtaposition between how people behave when they think they’re alone and how they behave in front of others.
